6 Ways to Stay Motivated on Your Fitness Journey

If only keeping up with your workouts was as easy as binge watching all 3 season of Insecure. Yet, getting yourself to the gym or out for a run can turn into a real chore. Plenty of times we feel less than motivated to hit the gym, work out and eat right.

Here are 6 ways to stay motivated on your fitness journey:

1. FIND YOUR "WHY"

There has to be a reason "why" you want to live a healthier lifestyle, so figure out what it is for YOU. Whatever your "why" is, be sure to love yourself exactly where you are at this moment and throughout the process of becoming a better version of YOU.

2. PREPARATION IS KEY

If you prepare your meals ahead of time for the week or even a for couple days, you'll have no reason or excuse to have those morning doughnuts in the break room. You're already set up for success!


3. DRINK WATER

As we all know, we NEED water to survive. It helps flush out toxins, clear skin, and it is essential to live. Limit or completely cut out sugary drinks (sodas, juices, etc.) DRINK MORE WATER. Its recommended that you drink half your body weight in ounces daily.

4. THINK POSITIVE

Practice thinking positive thoughts. Write down positive affirmations about yourself daily. If you go into anything with a negative mindset, chances are the outcome won't be pleasant. Life is truly what you make it, so make sure that the glass is always half full!

5. HAVE FUN

Just have fun with it. No, seriously!! Don't be so caught up in being strict that changing your lifestyle feels like a chore. Do Workouts that you enjoy doing, don’t be afraid of messing up or looking stupid, eat things that you like, just be sure that they coincide with your goals.

6. ASK FOR HELP

Don’t be afraid to reach out to others for support or even encouragement. If you have a sense of community your more likely to stick to your goals together. Consider joining a fitness group at your job or neighborhood, an online support group or even creating a groupchat of friends with the same mindset.
