5 Reasons Why You're Not Retaining Length

Monday, March 2, 2015

1. You're not moisturizing & sealing.
Natural hair NEEDS moisture! Without it, our hair becomes fragile & easily prone to breakage.

I use the L.O.C. (Liquid, Oil, Cream) method to moisturize and seal my hair nightly. This plays a major role in retaining my length.

2. You're not eating healthy.
You are what you eat! What you put inside of you reflects outside of you. Try to cut out junk food and replace with nutrient rich foods such as and which encourage hair growth. Also, drink at least 8 cups of water, your hair & body will thank you.

3. You're over-styling.
Yes, those braids look cute, but don't overdo it! Take a rest from the braids, twists, buns and other protective styles that create tension on your scalp and hairline. This lets your scalp get adequate air circulation in between your styles, and also cuts down on tangles.

4. You're not washing your hair/scalp properly.
Whether you cleanse with sulfate-free shampoo or co-wash, make sure you really get down to that scalp. A dirty/clogged scalp makes it hard for your hair to grow, plus it's not cute!

5. You're not avoiding heat.
If you don't need it, don't use it! Too much heat is damaging. There are many alternatives to using heat, so try them!

Remember growth takes time: Hair grows at an average 1/2 per month. To see results you have to patient and consistent !
